A couple of days ago I ordered and received the book Joomla! Web Security written by Tom Canavan and last night I found some free time to read the book. Because I am already familiair with most of the topics covered the book, "reading" is actually not the right term - it was more like scanning and it took me about 30 minutes. Here's my review.

Today I'd like to talk about the user perspective of (potentially great) software. Web-applications to be more specific. So no technical details here, I'll be talking to the developers from the (end)user perspective. And since I'm the funny guy around here at OSN (not a programmer, just a crazy applied cognitive psychologist), I'll think you'll excuse me for not making this post too technical. Developers can also use this blog to show users what huge effort goes into developing quality software nowadays.

Is Joomla! safe? It is an important question and so now and then I encounter a technical person who answers this question firmly with "NO!". The reasons for such an answer vary, but in the end they come down to the news that some Joomla! site got hacked.

In the world of search engines, duplicate content is always a big problem. Search engines need to determine which websites are useful to users and which are not, and one of the ways to accomplish this is to check for duplicate content.
A site with a lot of duplicate content is considered to be spamming the visitor, but sometimes duplicate content is created without the webmaster knowing.
